Cuyuni mining district to get new airstrip

Government has announced that it has awarded a contract to a mining company to construct a new airstrip in the Cuyuni area. This is according to Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.

“Cabinet has granted it’s no objection to the construction of an airstrip and aerodrome by Innovative Mining Inc at Aramata in the Cuyuni mining district number four, North West District,” Harmon said Thursday.

Harmon made these disclosures at the post-Cabinet press briefing on Thursday. Itairstrip was revealed that the chosen company, Innovative Mining Inc, is involved in mining and geological explorations and has been the beneficiary of several mining permits in the hinterland.

The Minister of State also told the media that the company is registered under the Companies Act of Guyana.

He further explained that the airstrip will be used to facilitate the company’s operations.

“The approved airstrip will facilitate the company’s mining and geological exploration activities,” he defined.
