Cyclist escapes horrific crash with minor cuts

Former cyclist Mario King on Sunday escaped with just minor cuts and bruises about his body after his car crashed into a lantern pole at Houston, Greater Georgetown.
The accident occurred just before 14:00h. When Guyana Times arrived at the scene, the car, PTT 1215, was wrapped around the pole in the median in the middle of the road. He was the lone occupant in the car.
At the time, King was removed from the wreckage and placed in an ambulance. This newspaper understands that he suffered a slight concussion.
Persons at the scene related that King lost control of the vehicle and slid on the road, which was wet as it was raining at the time.

Nevertheless, residents nearby commended the emergency response services, including the Ambulance and Guyana Fire Service, for their prompt response to the accident. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
