Darthan Racing aiming high at GMR&SC Caribbean Clash of Champions

As the plot thickens for the highly-anticipated Caribbean Clash of Champions race meet this weekend at the South Dakota Circuit, battle lines are being drawn.
The October 31 and November 1 event, set for the South Dakota Circuit, will be a blockbuster of clashes across the 1.8-kilometre circuit, and one team is looking to stand at the top of its classes when the dust settles.
Darthan Racing, comprising Azaad Hassan in the Sport Tuner Class (1600cc) and Paul Jiwanram in the Vitz A Class as well as Street Tuner Class (1500cc), are the team’s two drivers aiming to make a mark when the flag drops on Sunday.

Lap record on Azaad Hassan’s mind
Former Street Tuner champion Hasan and his neon green Toyota Corolla, car number 27, will return to the circuit competitively, having missed most of the year due to a broken hand, but is already setting his sights high.
“It’s nice to see Saif (Roshandin) up there. It’s even more comforting to see Sean up there with a blistering mid-126, which is actually the group lap record right now. The lap record has been changing from meeting to meeting, so it shows that the class is emerging. All the drivers are doing what they’re supposed to do. They’re doing the homework. And come November 1st, one of my intentions is to regain that lap record.”
Sponsored by GuyOil Castrol, A’s Automotive, Aiden’s Inc., Bardon Construction, and Darthan Investments, Hassan has high hopes for this weekend.

Jiwanram, the Vitz and the Street Tuner
Another familiar name in motorsport, Paul Jiwanram continues his charge through the season with a dual-class entry for his Toyota Vitz.
With enterprising results so far this year, Jiwanram says, “We are already on a high; we are second in the championship for the Street Tuner and third for the Vitz Cup A Class and we are hoping to get that early lead and push for both championships. It would be nice for the team to take both championships.”
“I also want to thank my family, my children, and my wife for supporting me in this. They’ve been giving me support all throughout the year.
The 717 car is sponsored by Darthan Investment, A’s Automotive, Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc, Party Palace, and Print Lab 3D.
Admission is set at $5000 for adults and $2000 for children, with the event being supported by the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry; One Guyana; ENet; KFC; GuyOil and Tropical Shipping, among other partners.
