Nineteen-year-old Floyden Grant of Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was slapped with several traffic-related charges, including dangerous driving.
The charges were instituted against the teenager after he was intercepted on Monday last along the Dartmouth Public Road, Essequibo Coast, and found to be in breach of several traffic violations. These include dangerous driving, driving without a license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an uncertified motor vehicle, and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Grant appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the charges were read to him, to which he pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle without being the holder of a driver’s licence and driving an uninsured vehicle.
He was fined $30,000 on each charge or, in default, three months’ imprisonment. In addition, he was granted $50,000 bail on the dangerous driving charge, $20,000 for taking the motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, and $10,000 for driving an uncertified motor vehicle.
He is due to return to court on December 22, 2026, for the commencement of the trial.
