DCC crush MSC by 208 runs in U17 50-over clash

DCC’s Yeshua Hutson

Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by a massive 208 runs when the Georgetown Cricket Association Under-17 Eline Security Logistics 50-Over competition continued yesterday at the DCC Ground.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, DCC piled up an imposing 316 all out in 49.5 overs, built on solid contributions from their top order and an explosive display of power hitting.
Makai Dowlin anchored the innings with a patient 73 off 96 balls, striking six fours and one six to set the platform. Mickel Sharma then injected momentum with a brisk 53 from just 41 deliveries, laced with seven fours and two sixes.
However, it was Yeshua Hutson who stole the spotlight with a scintillating knock of 96 from 77 balls.
Hutson’s innings featured one four and a remarkable nine sixes, as he dominated the MSC bowling attack and propelled DCC beyond the 300-run mark.
Kyle Gibson was the standout bowler for MSC, finishing with 4 for 67 from his full allotment of 10 overs, despite the heavy scoring.
Facing a daunting target of 317 for victory, MSC never found their footing. DCC’s bowlers struck regularly to dismantle the opposition for 108 in 25.5 overs. Kaylon Callender led the bowling effort with three wickets, while Jasane Craig and Sharma supported well with two wickets apiece to ensure there was no chance of a recovery.
Nathaniel Ramkallawan top-scored with 34, and skipper Joshua Budhram offered some resistance scoring 31, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled to cope with DCC’s disciplined attack.
With this comprehensive victory, DCC sent a strong message to the other teams in the competition, underlining their credentials as serious contenders for the Under-17 title.
