St Rose’s High and St Stanislaus College secured victories when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Georgetown City Regionals got underway on Friday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
St Rose’s High produced a dominant performance to defeat Marian Academy 74-22, led by a standout showing from Christian Williams, who was named Player of the Game after recording 23 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Williams was well-supported by teammates Tyler Paul, who contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds, Shequan Callendar with 16 points, and Daniel Cox, who added 10 points.

For Marian Academy, Lucas Pinol was the top performer with 13 points and six steals in a losing effort.
In the second encounter, St Stanislaus College edged Brickdam Secondary in a closely-contested matchup, winning 28-27. Omari White was named Player of the Game after finishing with 15 points and seven rebounds to guide his team to victory, while Josiah Lee chipped in with six points and four rebounds.
Brickdam’s Dontarion Denny delivered a strong all-round performance despite the loss, pulling down 13 rebounds and scoring six points.
The Georgetown City Regionals continue over the weekend and are being sponsored by Edward B Beharry Ltd, G-Boats Inc, the National Sports Commission, the Ministry of Education and Banks DIH Ltd.
