Persaud claims Senior Light pole as tight qualifying sets stage for $10M Nitro Kart Klash

Zachary Persaud secured pole position in the Banks DIH Briggs and Stratton Senior Light class following a competitive qualifying session for the $10 million Nitro Kart Klash at the National Stadium parking lot on Saturday.
Persaud produced a fastest time of 35.310 seconds to edge a tight field, finishing ahead of Calvin Ming, who clocked 35.553, while Khalil Rickford (35.634) and Matthew Phang (35.799) also remained within close range of the top spot.
The qualifying session, marked by narrow margins across multiple categories, also saw Persaud claiming pole in the Honda GX200 class after recording a time of 36.986. He will start ahead of Naresh Alves (38.240) and Luis Kumar (38.687), with Aqueel Edwards, Jaden Daziel and Shaun Bhoodoo completing the grid.

Action during the AJM Enterprise Over-35 Rookie Qualifying event

In the Chung’s Global Super Moto 125cc Junior class, Lishon Lewis secured pole with a time of 37.010 seconds, finishing ahead of Joshua Holder (39.970) and Troquille Sealy (41.060). Meanwhile, Mikhail Persaud topped the Forresters Lumber and Building Complex Briggs and Stratton Heavy class with a 36.594 effort, placing him ahead of Jhon Mohamed (37.492); Salim Azeez (38.236); Andre Rochford (39.315) and Jeremey Ten Pow.
Another closely-fought category was the Triple J Construction IAME X30 125cc class, where Justin Ten Pow claimed pole with a time of 31.223 seconds, narrowly ahead of Kristian Jeffrey (31.288) and Calvin Ming (31.366). Benjamin Phang (31.844) will start just outside the top three, followed by Nicholas Sawh (32.319), Rayden Persaud and Mahendra Bhoodoo.
William Vieira emerged fastest in the SVC Incorporated Briggs and Stratton Cadet class with a time of 37.255, finishing ahead of Asrudeen Mohamed (37.452), Nathan Seejattan (37.720) and Gavriel Gayadin (37.729) in another tightly-packed field.

In the female category, Paige Mendonca topped the J’s Supermarket Briggs and Stratton class ahead of Malicia Lawrence, while Matthew Phang recorded the fastest time in the Mohamed’s Excavating Construction Incorporated Super Moto 250cc class with 34.469, leading Jeremey Ten Pow (34.753), Andrew Jordan (35.060) and Salim Azeez (37.973).
Elsewhere, John Mohamed secured pole position in the AJM Enterprise Briggs and Stratton Over-35 Rookie class, while Shaun Bhoodoo led qualifying in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Briggs and Stratton Junior category.
The session was attended by Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Charles Ramson Jr and Assistant Director of Sport, Franklyn Wilson. Racing is scheduled to begin today, with gates opening from 08:00h and the first events expected to start shortly after. Admission is set at $3000 for adults, with children under 12 granted free entry.
