DCC, GDF to square off in final

Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will play in the final of the of the Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA)/General Industrial and Supplies Enterprise (GISE), Star Party Rentals and Trophy Stall First Division Two-day competition after both teams secured first innings points in their respective semi-final matches on Sunday.

At DCC, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), resuming on 172-5 in pursuit of DCC’s 301 saw Devon Lord (08) failing to add to his overnight score, as Anthony Adams then fell to seamer Paul Wintz with the score now at 180-7.
Wintz and left-arm unorthodox spinner Totoram Bishun picked the final three wickets to bowl out GCC for 217 forty minutes before lunch; Ronaldo Ali-Mohammed was not out on 29.
Bishun finished with 4-49 while Wintz took 3-46 to give their side a lead of 84.
DCC in their second turn at the crease reached 156-3 when played was called-off after tea.
Brian Sattaur went without scoring, followed by Kevon Boodie (05) as DCC were 23-2 but West Indies Under-19 batsman Tevin Imlach and Christopher Barnwell added 111 for the third wicket when Vishual Singh who seemed to have the golden arm in this match, bowled a long-hop which Barnwell hit straight down the throat of deep mid-wicket to fall for a well composed 68 (7x4s; 1×6).
Imlach continued to bat miserly, ticking of the singles and scoring the seldom boundaries end the match not out on 70 (10x4s); Sherefene Rutherford was the other not out batsman on 10.
Over at the GDF ground, GNIC were bundled out for 127 after resuming on 69-5; Kurt Lovell top scored with 35 and Gajanand Singh made 30.
Leg-spinner Andre O’Neil took 3-7, Kevin Ramdeen 2-4 and Colin Hamer 2-28 where the chief wrecks for the soldiers to give their side a handy lead of 64.
In GDF’s second innings, they slipped to 12-2 after losing openers Qwacey McPherson (04) and Leon Andrews (00).
Akeem Hinds and Kevin Ramdeen then forged steely third wicket partnership of 70 after which Ramdeen fell leg before to seamer Jermaine Grovensor for 38 (2x4s; 3x6s).
The partnerships continued to form as Hinds and Dexter Solomon took the score 165-4, adding 83 for the second wicket.
Hinds fell to Rayon Griffith for 70 (11x4s; 1×6) and Solomon, who hit a boundary to reach his fifty, was out caught to the same bowler for 58 (5x4s; 1x6s) soon after which played came to close.
Griffith was the leading bowler with 2-19 while Gudakesh Motie 1-33, Raun Johnson 1-6 and Grovensor 1-22 were also among the wickets.
