Decomposed body of known bandit found in house

The body of a bandit was found in an advanced state of decomposition on Wednesday in an abandoned house at Savannah Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Dead is Leroy Husbands. He was found in the living room of the house lying face down. Reports are that on Tuesday, residents in the area reported a foul stench coming from the house.
However, on Wednesday morning, residents decided to investigate. It was then the discovery was made.
Residents explained that in recent days, Husbands was seen going into the abandoned house.
Two weeks ago, he was discharged from the New Amsterdam Hospital after being admitted.
Husbands is known by the Police and has been convicted for several robberies and brake and enters. The most recent was the 2015 robbery of M Ali Supermarket at Main and Pope Streets, New Amsterdam.
The body was taken to the Stanleytown Cemetery since the funeral home refused to house the body due to the advanced state of decomposition. (Andrew Carmichael)
