Dhanpaul, Seepaul, Narine help Majestic book semi-final spot

The action continued in the Caribbean Fest 40 Overs Playoff Season 2021, as a six-wicket haul from Avi Dhanpaul and brilliant half-centuries from Suraj Seepaul and Derick Narine ensured that Majestic CC defeated Everest ACS to book their spot in the semi-finals. They will face off against Liberty CC next Sunday.

Avi Dhanpaul (6-12) and Suraj Seepaul (90) led their team to the semi-finals

Majestic CC won the toss and elected to bat. They were able to post 260 all out in 37.4 overs. This was thanks to the batting efforts of the in-form Narine, who blasted 50 at the top of the order, inclusive of five boundaries and three maximums. But a few wickets began to fall and this pegged back the Majestic innings. They were on the verge of being bowled out for a very small total, but in came Suraj Seepaul and just like that he blasted 90 off 48 deliveries; the innings was inclusive of five classy boundaries and eight towering maximums that shifted the game in favour of his team. The Everest bowlers had no reply to this onslaught as they fumbled for answers. Bowling for Everest ACS were Yuvraj Dayal (4-43); Keshram Seyhodan (2-51); and Zamin Amin (2-17).

Derick Narine scored a 50 at the top of the order

Everest needed a miracle, they needed to start striking the ball from the get-go in order to book their spot in the semi-finals. But Dhanpaul had other plans: his line and length were impeccable, and the batsmen had no answer for him as he recorded the best bowling figures in the tournament for 2021 with 6-12. In the end, Everest were bundled out for 94-9 in 19.4 overs as Terry Hastoo was unable to bat. The only batsmen who were able to contribute were Alvin Gangadin with 52 and Dayanand Roopnarine, who scored 29. Supporting Dhanpaul in the bowling department were Robin Rooplall (2-19) and Chris Patadin (1-30)
