Home News DPP’s Chambers to visit Moraikobai on Sunday
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will visit Moraikobai, a community in the Mahaicony Creek, as it continues its public outreach.
This activity is the third for the year since the re-opening of the country and relaxing of all COVID-19 measures. The two previous outreaches were held at Muritaro, Upper Demerara River, and at Annai in North Rupununi.
The objective of these outreaches is to educate and inform members of the public on the role and functions of the DPP’s Office in the criminal justice system, and to assist members of the public who may have criminal matters pending in the justice system, or who need redress on matters.
Importantly, lawyers from the Chambers would speak to communities on the various types of criminal offences, in particular sexual offences, which have seen a spike in recent years across the country.
The DPP’s Office is urging residents of Moraikobai and contiguous communities to make every effort to attend the outreach.
