Two persons were taken into custody following the discovery of two illegal firearms and ammunition during a Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) operation on Tuesday at Castello Housing Scheme, West La Penitence, Georgetown.
CANU stated that officers, acting on intelligence received, conducted an operation at Castello Housing Scheme where they intercepted two men who were at the time carrying one black .38 Special Smith & Wesson revolver along with one live round of matching ammunition and one black 9mm Baikal Makarov pistol.
The two men were subsequently arrested and handed over to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) along with the firearms and ammunition for further investigations.
