Duo fined, ordered 6 months community service for narco possession

A man who admitted to possessing a quantity of narcotics was ordered to do six months community service and fined 00 when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly on Friday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Daniel Smalling pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on August 16 he had 2 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Smalling, who was unrepresented in court, was ordered by Magistrate Daly to appear every Monday for the next six months to the officer in charge at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of East La Penitence Police Station, Georgetown, to do community service.
Meanwhile, Clifford Brackett, who also admitted to a possession of narcotics charge before Magistrate Daly, was fined 00 and ordered to serve six months community service.
Brackett pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on August 6 he had 2 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Defence attorney Mark Conway made an application for less community service since his client has a demanding job that requires him to travel.
He further asked the Magistrate to allow for the time of submission of his client to be varied at the Police Station since his client does a shift job. However, both applications were denied by Magistrate Daly.
Brackett will also do his community service at the East La Penitence Police Station.
