Home News East La Penitence plumber remanded for carjacking
Twenty-five-year-old John Glen was arraigned before Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday on a charge of robbery under arms and remanded to prison after he opted to enter a not-guilty plea.
It is alleged that the defendant on November 3, 2017 at Seawall Road in Georgetown, while armed with a knife and in the company of another person who was armed with a gun, robbed Harjeet Singh of one Toyota Primo motor car valued at $1.8 million.
The father of one vehemently denied any knowledge of the allegation. Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves posed a string of objections to bail being granted, citing the seriousness of the charge coupled with the fact that a weapon was used in the commission of the crime.
The court was inclined to uphold the prosecution’s objections and the defendant was remanded to prison.
Glen will make his next court appearance on December 11, 2017.
