A 12-member jury was on Monday morning empanelled to hear the case of George Dover, who is on trial for attempted murder.
He is accused of stabbing the Virtual Complainant (VC), Kester Yamster about the body during an argument at the Eccles Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on April 10, 2015. He has, however, denied the charges by way of entering pleas of not-guilty.
The State’s indictment was presented by lead Prosecutor Abigail Gibbs, with the first count being attempt to commit murder while the other was wounding with intent to disfigure, maim, or cause grievous bodily harm. Dover was committed to stand trial in the High Court in April last year and was placed on bail.
The defence team is led by Attorney George Thomas while Retired Rear Admiral Gary Best and Keisha Persaud are also appearing for the accused. Shawnette Austin and Tiffini Lyken are appearing for the State in association with Prosecutor Gibbs.
Five witnesses, including the VC, are set to testify when the case begins before Justice Navindra Singh this morning.
