One week after a shooting incident in Vigilance, East Coast Demerara (ECD), which left two persons dead, another man who was shot on Monday evening in a similar fashion has succumbed. Shawn Edwards reportedly died while receiving medical attention at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Tuesday.
Based on reports, Edwards was found lying face down on a roadway, bleeding from his abdomen, following a shooting incident. Up to late Tuesday evening, the police had yet to release any information on the incident. Reports are that Edwards had survived a previous attempt on his life involving gunmen.

This comes a day after 22-year-old Cordel August, a wash bay attendant from Strathspey, ECD and 35-year-old shop owner Aeon Headley from Vigilance, South, were shot and killed during a drive-by shooting. It was reported that the duo was among a group gathered at a shop owned by Headley at about 22:00h when two men dressed in black arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire in their direction. Both victims sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital by public-spirited citizens, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. No arrests were made in connection with the shooting incidents.
