EDFA continues youth ensemble preparations with friendlies

The East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) continued preparations for the upcoming Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Youth Ensemble Under-13 and Under-15 competitions with a series of friendly matches and the release of fixtures for the opening round of the Under-13 league.

On Sunday, May 10, which coincided with Mother’s Day celebrations, Haslington United FC and Mahaicony Western Lions FC met at the Central Mahaicony Ground in a pair of developmental encounters.
Haslington United FC produced a strong performance in the Under-13 fixture to record a convincing 5-1 victory over Mahaicony Western Lions FC. However, the visitors responded in the under-15 contest as Mahaicony Western Lions turned the tables with an equally dominant 5-1 win over Haslington United.
The matches formed part of the EDFA’s preparations ahead of the official launch of the GFF Youth Ensemble competitions, which are scheduled to begin across the country this month.
Meanwhile, the EDFA has confirmed the fixtures for the opening round of its GFF/EDFA Under-13 League, which is set for Saturday, May 16, at the Buxton Community Centre Ground.
The opening match at 10:00h will see Plaisance Football Club opposing Golden Stars Football Club. At 11:00h, BV Triumph will come up against Victoria Kings Football Club.
At 12:00h, Buxton Stars FC are scheduled to face Ann’s Grove United FC, while Melanie FC and Mahaica Determinators FC will clash from 13:00h.
The final fixture of the day is billed for 14:00 between Haslington Stars FC and Mahaicony Western Lions FC.
The league forms part of the wider GFF Youth Ensemble Programme, which aims to provide structured competition and development opportunities for young footballers across the country’s regional associations.
