The first day of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Scotiabank Kiddy Progression One Cricket saw Lusignan, along with Enmore, emerging winners of their respective encounters against defending champions Enterprise Primary and Valmiki Vidayala School.
Both matches were played at the Lusignan Ground, with teams allowed to field 14 players at a time. Enmore Primary got off to a good start by trouncing the defending champs by a whopping 12 wickets. Enmore Primary had won the toss and decided to bowl, keeping Enterprise to 157-5 from their allotted 14 overs, with Mathew Crawford crunching 70, which included 7 sixes and 6 fours, along with Joel Lalman, who hit 6 sixes and 4 fours in his innings of 54.
Enmore, needing 158, raced to their total in 11.2 overs losing just two wickets. Darshawn Kaladin blasted an unbeaten 81 with 6 sixes and 5 fours, while Mathew Ballkission made 43 not out, inclusive of 5 sixes and 2 fours.
Match two saw the home team Lusignan Primary whipping Valmiki Vidayala School by 6 runs. Lusignan won the toss and batted first, but could only muster 85 for 6 off 14 overs, with Yograj Rambarran standing out with a top-score of 33. Bowling for Valmiki Vidayala was led by Torana Seepersaud and Johnathan Ramessar, who both ended with identical figures of 2-6.
Chasing a moderate target, Valmiki Vidayala were amazingly restricted to 79 all out in their allotted 14 overs. Travis Jagnandan resisted with 19 while Nicholas Rukdeo took 2 wickets to hand Lusignan a comfortable 6-run win.
