A 35-year-old Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the death of Isaacs Rojas in January.
Chandu Singh, a driver of Hoff-Van-Aurich, Essequibo Coast, appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Friday last before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir.
Singh was charged under Section 35(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, for allegedly causing the death of Rojas by dangerous driving.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on January 4 at Queenstown Access Road, Essequibo Coast.
Magistrate Mohabir granted Singh $700,000 bail on the conditions that he report to the Anna Regina Police Station every Friday and surrender his travel documents, including his passport, pending trial.
The matter was adjourned to facilitate disclosure of statements.
