Essequibo Coast guard chopped, robbed by bandit

A 38-year-old security guard who works at a supermarket in Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), is now nursing a chop wound to his hand after being robbed of his cellular phone by a masked motorcycle bandit.
Injured is Dhaneshwar Budhoo, a security guard at Shawn’s Mini Mart, Anna Regina. The man, who hails from the Henrietta Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was robbed at about 19:45h on Friday evening
Reports are Budhoo was on duty at Shawn’s Mini Mart when a masked man riding a motorcycle approached him. According to Police, the man dismounted the motorcycle armed with a knife, and attacked Budhoo while demanding that he hand over his cellular phone.
During the process, the security guard was chopped on his right hand and was relieved of his cell phone, a Samsung Galaxy valued at $30,000.
However, even though he was injured, Budhoo fought back, and during the scuffle, a bag belonging to the bandit fell to the ground along with the knife, an orange and black cellular phone and a helmet.
The masked man quickly hopped onto his motorcycle and made good his escape with Budhoo’s cellular phone, but left without the items that had fallen to the ground during their fight.
However, a piece of the number plate from the motorcycle broke off and fell to the ground before he managed to escape, Police said.
The security guard was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was treated. An investigation has been launched. (G9)
