Essequibo Coast woman robbed at gunpoint while visiting mother

Shortly after robbing a woman who was visiting her mother at Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Mother’s Day, three of the four armed perpetrators were arrested after swift action of Police in that division.
The robbery reportedly took place about 22:40h. Based on Police reports, Samantha Ramitt, a housewife of Pomona Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was at her parents’ residence at Tuschen when she heard her father speaking with someone.
As such, she went to check on him and it was then, she observed a man searching her father’s pocket while three others who were later identified as their neighbours were keeping guard.
In an attempt to scare them off, Ramitt reportedly shouted at the men but one of the suspects walked up to her and demanded that she hand over the gold chain she was wearing. During the ordeal, the woman was assaulted.
Ramitt reportedly refused to hand over the piece of jewellery and dealt the bandit one punch to his mouth. In retaliation, the bandit whipped out a black handgun from his waistband and pointed it in her direction while he relieved her of the chain valued about $150,000 and made good his escape, along with his accomplices, in a waiting motor car.
The woman raised an alarm and the Police were immediately contacted. The swift response by the Police led to the arrest of three suspects with the fourth still on the run.
The men are expected to be charged shortly.
