Essequibo ferry stelling walkway eroded

passengers calling for re-casting

Commuters utilising the Good Hope-Pomona Ferry service in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) have been complaining about the sub-standard works at the facility at Supenaam and are calling on Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson to immediately intervene.

The pathway leading to the ferries’ dock is eroded and causes great discomfort for passengers. The walkway has eroded to the extent that the stones used in the casting are showing. Only recently, a resident in the area, having recognised the discomfort of both passengers and drivers, installed steel plates to cover the holes.

Vehicles traversing the area have to negotiate onto the steel plates. This has caused great inconvenience to many, including commuters. Commuters are, therefore, calling for a re-casting of the walkway in an effort to prevent further erosion and deterioration.
