Everest Masters throw out challenge to Pakuri Warriors cricket team

St Cuthbert’s Mission, one of three Indigenous settlements in Region Four, has accepted the challenge to engage in a cricket match against the much fancied, Georgetown-based Everest Masters cricket team.

Everest Masters are ready to take on the Pakuri Warriors in a cricket match

Currently having what can be described as a turbulent year, the Everest Masters would be gunning for a morale-boosting victory against their more youthful opponents.
The 25-overs-a-side battle is set for Monday October 28 at the Everest Cricket Club ground from 11:00h, but will be preceded by an Everest intra-club contest among the young brigade of that historic club from 09:00h.
The side from St Cuthbert’s, known as the Pakuri Warriors, will come from Avinash Poonsammy (captain), Julio Ferreira, Timothy Andrews, Gideon Osalmo, Denzil Shuman, David France, Wendell Williams, Aldin and Anil Kattow, Burton and Loranzo Clenkian; and Ronnie, Elon, Stallon and Sakanchi Simon.
Everest Masters team reads as follows: Rajesh Singh (captain), Sahadeo Hardaiow, Saheed Mohamed, Hemraj Garbarran, Bisham Singh, Ijaz Mohamed, Anand Persaud, Ronald Jaisingh, Robin Bharat, Imtiaz Sadik, Anwar Rahaman, Satyendra Khemraj, Ucil Armstrong, Ravi Narayan, Basil Persaud, Safraz Sherfiffudeen and Johnny Azeez.
Players of both sides will wear coloured clothing while playing with the pink ball in observance of Cancer Awareness Month. The winning team will walk away with the Essential Supplies Incorporated Trophy, while the man-of-the-match will collect the Trophy Stall Trophy.
On the Easter weekend earlier in the year, Everest Masters had hosted a team from Laluni, another Indigenous settlement in Region Four, but lost the high-scoring encounter.
