Everest wallop Diplomats by 256 runs

Khemraj Ramdeen of the Everest Cricket Club recorded the latest century in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ New Building Society (NBS) second division 40 overs tournament to propel his side to a convincing win over minnows Diplomat on Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
Ramdeen top scored with 114 as he led Everest to 371-6 from 40 overs. Saheed Mohamed 58, Denesh Mangal 41, Akshaya Persaud 35, Richie Looknauth 37 and Gavin Sookdeo 30 were the other batsmen to contribute to their team’s mammoth total.
The Carifesta Avenue side then returned to dismantle their opponents for 115 all out in 28.2 overs. Once again left arm spinner Javed Rasheed was the pick of their bowlers with 4-24 from eight quality overs while Mohamed 2-13 and Rajin Sookdeo 2-22 supported beautifully while Looknauth and Riyad Sattaur, snared a wicket each.
K. Mondisir made 43 for Diplomats in an ambitious knock.
Everest won the match by 256 runs to stay alive in the tournament.
In other results at the weekend reigning champions Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) defeated Diplomats, Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) defeated Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated Police, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) won against Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) and Sophia shocked GDF.
