Ex-Policeman slapped with robbery charge

Ex-Policeman Edwin Nunes of Lot 32 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown was on Wednesday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly, charged with

allegedly committing the following offences:

On July 18, 2017, at Campbellville, Georgetown, while being armed with a cutlass and knife, he is alleged to have robbed Dmitri Charles of keys, rings, chains and other items to a total value of $53,000.

On July 18, 2017, at Sheriff Street Georgetown, while being in the company of others, he is alleged to have robbed Parmanand Harilall of one phone valued $12,000, one cutlass valued $1000, and other items to a total value of $19,300. The unrepresented 24-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to either charge, and the magistrate, considering that he was previously before the court on a similar matter, remanded the defendant to prison until August 11, 2017, when the cases will come up for report.
