Exciting list of activities planned for 12th annual Rockstone Fish Festival

The village of Rockstone, located on the outskirts of Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice), will definitely come alive on Sunday for the 12th annual Fish Festival.
The festival is expected to attract thousands since it is one of the most anticipated events of all times. Although the main events are planned for Sunday, several events are planned for Saturday.
These include a bike race, volleyball competition, bonfire and folk singing, karaoke and a cross country road race.
On Sunday, the Fish Festival officially gets underway at 10:00h with the opening ceremony, followed by the cassava grating and rafting competitions. This will be followed by the archery and watermelon competitions.
The most exciting, however, is the stage show which will see local artistes performing live. This, however, will be followed by a swimming and a fish cooking competition. Prizes will be awarded for best roasted fish, best smoked fish and fish deboning.
Another exciting event will be the fish catching competition where judges will determine the biggest catch. As the day’s events wind down, there will be the canoe and boat race competitions.
The day’s event will culminate with the grand stage performance including, Diana Chapman, Flame of the Heart, Little Colwyn and Baby Marley among others. Admission for Sunday’s event cost $500 for adults and $300 for children.
