Farmer jailed for armed robbery

Seelall (only name), also known as “Papo,” a farmer who admitted on Friday that he robbed his neighbour of a gold bangle valued $80,000, was sentenced to two years in jail.
Seelall appeared before Magistrate Rushell Liverpool at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where he confessed that on July 13, 2020, at Lot 582 Foulis Housing Scheme, ECD, while being armed with a knife, he robbed 61-year-old Mahadai Arjune of his gold bangle.
The court heard that the elderly man was at home when Seelall approached him with a knife and demanded that the man hand over his valuables.
In fear, the man handed over the bangle, after which Seelall made good his escape. He was later arrested and charged. After listening to the facts, Magistrate Liverpool jailed him for two years. (G1)
