Father of 2 electrocuted

A poultry farmer was on Saturday morning electrocuted a short distance from his Garden of Eden home

while pumping water into several tanks leading to his chicken pens.
Dead is Majayid Muhammed of Lot 50 Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara (EBD). He was found dead at about 05:30h by his father-in-law, Hassan Insanally. This newspaper was told that the 30-year-old man was found in a trench with the electrical cable in his hands. Immediately after the discovery, the Police were summoned and in turn, rushed the man to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, EBD, where he was pronounced dead.
His wife, Sarika Insanally-Muhammed told Guyana Times that she and her husband woke up early on Saturday to start prayers since they are observing Ramadan. After prayers, she recalled going back to bed with one of her daughters since she was not feeling well.
After sometime and she did not hear her husband’s voice or any movements so she called out to her father and they started to look for the man. During their search they found him in the trench and from all indications it appeared as though he was electrocuted.
She noted that her father phoned the Police and within minutes they arrived and launched an investigation. They then took her husband to hospital.
When Guyana Times visited the home of the dead man, several relatives were expressing condolences to the family. As the mourning wife sat on the chair with her baby in hand, she related that her husband’s death is a major blow to her and the two children, ages six years, and seven months old.
Her husband, the woman stated is a chef by profession but at the time of his demise he worked with Mohamed’s Poultry Establishment in the village.
Guyana Times was told that the dead man was originally from Jamaica but moved permanently to Guyana four years ago.
The wife noted that although they were married eight years now, they travelled to and from Jamaica for four years before settling here. His parents and siblings who reside in Jamaica have been notified of the incident.
She described her husband as a hardworking individual who was family oriented. His body is at Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting post mortem. (Bhisham Mohamed)
