Female volleyball team shortlisted ahead of Bolivia Invitational

Fourteen ladies were, on Sunday, April 15, 2018, shortlisted for the Women’s team ahead of the upcoming Bolivian Volleyball Senior Invitational tournament, which spikes off on May 26, 2018 — Guyana’s Independence Day.
National Coach and selector, Levi Nedd, confirmed to Guyana Times Sport on Wednesday that the ladies are among the best he has seen, and he is confident they will ‘carry on’ as they move forward.
The ladies who have been shortlisted are Alicia Davis, Kelshine Griffith, Danielle Samaroo, Daniella Collier, Kirenia Ballard, Olivia Welcome, Odile Broomes, Philana Simpson, Candacy Mentore, Hannah Hicks, Famke David, Mercedes Forde, Cherry-Ann Fraser and Abbigail Humphrey.
These ladies have been undergoing numerous simulation and training exercises over the past few months, in preparation for this upcoming international fixture.
Their shortlisting was done at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. Final shortlisting for the male team will be held on Sunday, April 22, at the same venue.
Just like the females, the males — who will play a key role in the competition — will have their current squad further trimmed this Sunday, according to Nedd. The coach is calling on all players who were shortlisted from the previous trials to attend this Sunday’s session at the Gymnasium.
