The fiercest of battles is expected between Lower Corentyne and Georgetown as top players like Jonathan Foo, Gajanand Singh, Veerasammy Permaul and Raun Johnson will turn out for the former team while the city team will be represented by Guyana captain Leon Johnson, Christopher Barnwell and Robin Bacchus.

Lower Corentyne dominated there first round encounter while a strong Georgetown unit surprisingly lost first innings to Upper Demerara/ East Bank. The city side will be looking to rebound while the Lower Corentyne team will aim to continue along the winning path.

Historically, the GCB featured three teams in their premier Inter county tournament, and then shifted its attention to include a fourth team, from which the GCB has now expanded its wings to have eight selected teams from across the country compete among and against each other. This format has allowed for non-contracted players to have the opportunity to compete for a place in the Guyana senior team under Pay for Play, and to vie for future player contracts. The Jaguars league system is also built on the participation of quality and experience players and the encouraging existence of a semi-professional system.

During the first round of matches, Lower Corentyne and East Coast emerged victorious over Essequibo and West Demerara respectively, while the matches played between Upper Demerara/East Bank and Georgetown at Everest Cricket Club ground, and West Berbice and Upper Corentyne at Young Warriors Cricket Club ground, ended prematurely due to persistent rainfall on the third and final day.

Jonthan Foo was among the highlights of the first round by registering the first century of the Jaguars three Day League with an attractive 152, while Veerasammy Permaul had a match haul 10 for 80, whereas, Gudakesh Motie, Ameer Khan and Raymon Reifer each registered five wickets hauls.
