Final heads to Providence on Friday

After inclement weather had wiped out any possible play in the 50-over final between Berbice and the National Select Under-17 over the past weekend at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) moved the match to the National Stadium, Providence.

On Friday, both sides will do battle from 09:00h in what promises to be a keenly contested fixture. Berbice and a National U-17 team have battled and clawed their way through some stiff competition in order to reach the finals. Berbice will rely on their in-form players, the likes of Alex Algoo, Junior Sinclair, Kelvin Umrao, Kevlon Anderson and Kevin Sinclair, among others.
National youth and Windies’ ex U-16 skipper, opener Sachin Singh, and his team of young players have been showing glimpses of something big coming in the near future. The U-17s’ will want much from Singh, Nigel Persaud, Mavendra Dindyal, Andre Seepersaud, Seon Glasgow and Marvin Prashad — all of whom have been making starts, and are capable of winning matches for their team.
