GCB/Dave West Indian Imports U-15 Inter-County Championship 2018…
After three completed preliminary rounds of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-County tournament, the rains came and washed out the final that was set for February 10 at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda.
However, the organizers and sponsor were committed to have the final played at a
date and venue that were favourable. The new date is now set and will see hosts Demerara challenging defending champions, Berbice for the title.
In the build up to the championship match, defending champions Berbice who came through the preliminary rounds unbeaten were heavy favourites for a repeat.
However, Demerara whose only defeat came at the hands of the champions in round two at the Everest Cricket Club ground could spring a surprise.
When the date and venue for the final is known, Berbice off-spinner Jonathan Rampersaud will look to add to his tally of 13 wickets while inform skipper Zeynul Ramsammy will look to register the first half century of the tournament to spur their team on. On the other hand, Demerara will hope that
Shamar Yearwood, captain Mavindra Dindyal, Nicholas Rajpat, Zachary Jodha and Rommel Datterdeen show up on the big stage in their quest to reclaim the title.
Other teams in the tournament are Essequibo who registered one win and the GCB President’s XI going winless after three matches.
The first ball on Sunday is at 09:30h.
