The curtains come down on the GFF-Always Championship Cup tomorrow. The battle will be on for the third place and the championship. Scheduled kick-off time is 16:00hrs and 18:30hrs respectively, and play is at the GFC Ground at Bourda.
Santos FC will oppose Foxy Ladies in the third-place playoff, and Fruta Conquerors FC will oppose Lady Panthers FC in the finals.
Speaking about his team’s preparation and chances in the finals, Williams said his team’s chances of winning the tournament are very good.
“We (have been) training very hard as a team all season long. The girls are eager and ready to go out there. We are not underestimating any team, especially Lady Panthers; we’ve played them before with mixed fortunes. We just need to go out there and play to our game plan,” he said.

Captain of the Lady Panthers FC, Patsy Walker, is also optimistic about her team’s chances against Fruta Conquerors FC. She said, “We have had several encounters with Fruta Conquerors, but everyone knows tomorrow it’s a final, so we are looking forward to a competitive match. We have been in preparation mode since the year started. The competition so far has been good, and (it) placed the ladies in the spotlight; so, tomorrow, our intention is to win the final, even though we know Fruta Conquerors is a strong team.”
The tournament kicked off on November 30 with five teams/clubs from the Georgetown Football Association and West Demerara Football Association: Santos FC, Fruta Conquerors FC, Lady Panthers FC, Foxy Ladies FC, and the Guyana Police Force FC. It was played on a round- robin basis, with each team fielding eleven players.
