Town Week Football heads for grand finale at Bayroc

The excitement of the annual Town Week football tournament reached a fever pitch on Wednesday evening as two thrilling encounters at the Bayroc National Stadium determined the finalists in this year’s competition.
The tournament, presented by the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation in collaboration with the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), has been a highlight of the Linden Town Week celebrations, drawing enthusiastic crowds and showcasing some of the community’s finest football talent.

Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme overcame a tough battle against Ward

In the first matchup at 18:00h, Group B contenders Blueberry Hill/Christianburg/Alleys & Valleys delivered a commanding performance against Block 22/Wisroc. Demonstrating clinical finishing and solid defensive organisation, Blueberry Hill/Christianburg/Alleys & Valleys secured a resounding 4–0 victory to book their place in the final. The dominant display underscored their intent to challenge for top honours and the lucrative prize on offer.
Later in the evening, fans were treated to a dramatic Group A showdown at 20:30h as Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme faced Amelia’s Ward/Kara Kara/Bamia. The contest lived up to expectations, with Amelia’s Ward taking a narrow 2–1 lead into halftime after an energetic first-half performance.

However, Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme regrouped after the break and mounted a spirited comeback. Showing resilience and attacking flair, they netted twice in the second half to edge Amelia’s Ward/Kara Kara/Bamia 3–2 in a pulsating encounter. The victory sealed their spot in the championship match and ended Amelia’s Ward’s hopes despite a commendable effort.
With the field narrowed from six teams to two, all eyes now turn to the grand finale on May 1. Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme will clash with Blueberry Hill/Christianburg/Alleys & Valleys at 21:30h under the lights at the Bayroc National Stadium.
As Linden Town Week festivities continue, supporters can anticipate another thrilling night of football, with pride, community bragging rights, and a multi-million dollar prize at stake. The stage is set for an electrifying finale as two in-form teams battle to be crowned champions.
