Fire contained to bedroom at Non Pareil home

Firefighters from the Melanie Fire Station contained a fire to a bedroom at a house at Lot 12 Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD), preventing it from spreading to other sections of the building. According to the Guyana Fire Service (GPF), two water tenders accompanied by a crew were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the building and moved to locate and extinguish the blaze, the fire service said on Tuesday.
The fire was contained to a bedroom. The Fire Service said the crew’s response prevented the flames from spreading and causing further damage to the property.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
