Fire Service engages ECD children at “Kids Fire Safety Camp”

In an effort to bring awareness to children about the dangers of fires, the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) on Sunday held a “Kids Fire Safety Camp” at the Lusignan Community Centre.
Chief Fire Officer Gregory Wickham, in brief remarks, highlighted that the Camp was an integral part of a strategic plan aimed at reaching and teaching children from all backgrounds.
Chief Wickham emphasised that children are the future, and through the camp, attendees will serve as catalysts for spreading the message of fire prevention.
He expressed optimism that the participants will make a positive impact in their families, schools, and communities.

According to the GFS, the Camp saw children from several schools on the East Coast of Demerara, including Mon Repos Primary, Good Hope Secondary, and Camille’s Institute, as well as children who reside in the area.
With a focus on fire safety, the Camp instilled essential life skills in the young participants through engaging activities, interactive question-and-answer segments, and practical demonstrations, the Fire Service said on Sunday.
It added that it was aiming to continually host camps and other awareness events to spread the message of fire safety to citizens.
