Fisherman Masters, HS Masters and SVC Grill Masters record wins

Regal Stationery and Computer Centre 20-over tournament

The action continued over the weekend in the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc/ Regal Stationery and Computer Centre 20-over tournament, which saw two exciting matches at the Malteenoes Sports Club, as Fisherman Masters, HS Masters and SVC Grill Masters all recorded wins.
In the first match-up, the in-form Fisherman Masters were set to face off against Wellman Masters. Opener Unniss Yusuf struck a well-composed 93 to lead his side to a 43-run win over Wellman. Batting first, Fisherman Masters sent to the crease Yusuf and Troy Ramsaywack, who put on an impressive 74-run partnership as they blasted the ball to every part of the ground. However, Ramsaywack was the first victim to fall as he was bowled for 30 (6×4), but Yusuf remained at the crease and carried on for Fisherman. Chipping in with runs were Zameer Hassan and Ramo Malone with scores of 19 and 14 respectively as they were able to let loose around Yusuf, who top-scored with 93 (4sx2, 6sx11). Bowling for Wellman were Ramesh Deonarine, who picked up 3-22; Latchman Kallicharran, 2-4 and Sheldon Perch 2-37, who chipped in to restrict Fisherman Masters to 193 all-out in 19 overs.
Needing 194 for victory off 120 balls, Wellman Masters were only able to muster 158-8 as the Fisherman Masters kept their bowling tight. Scoring for Wellman were the in-form Wayne Jones with 34 (1×4 3x6s); Denish Vickanand with 34 (2x4s, 3x6s) and Ramesh Deonarine, who made a quick-fire 30. Bowling for Fisherman Masters were Danny Thomas who grabbed 2-18, Pooran Singh with 2-20 and Yusuf showing his all-round abilities with 2-25.
HS Masters then faced Success Masters in a thrilling encounter as Success Masters were able to score a decent total of 167 all-out in their allotted 20 overs. Following up his century in the previous round of the tournament, Seekumar Budram top-scored with 80. Bowling for HS Masters was Jairam, who bagged 4-29. In response, HS Masters kept the score ticking along nicely as they ended with 168-9, winning the game with just three balls to spare. Top-scoring for them was Michael Ifill who made 40 off 17 balls, supported by Troy Lewis with 38 despite Mark Fung’s 2-19.
While the action in the open category saw the highlight of the day as SVC Grill Masters skittled out Good Hope Hustlers for 28 in 6.3 overs that saw David Lukenauth bagging 4-10 and Richard Latif 2-12. In response, SVC Grill Masters chased the total down in 2.2 overs for the loss of one wicket, ending on 29-1 with Roy Jafferally top-scoring with 20.
