Flying Stars launch 5th Trifecta Memorial Series

The Flying Stars Cycling Club has launched the fifth edition of its Trifecta Memorial Series, with at least 17 overseas cyclists expected to compete in the upcoming races across Guyana.
The launch was held at the Corporate Suites of the Pegasus Hotel, where club President Victor Rutherford outlined the growth of the series, which began as a single memorial race in honour of former club President Randolph “Duckie” Singh following his passing in 2021.
Rutherford explained that the initiative has since developed into a multi-event programme, with support from the Kaieteur Attack Cycling Club helping to expand its reach and profile.
“When he passed away in 2021, we agreed that we would keep an event to remember him, and that is how we started with the Memorial Duckie. Since then, it has progressed to what it is today,” Rutherford said.

He noted that the series would attract an international field, with at least 17 cyclists expected from the United States, Canada, Colombia, Belize, Barbados, and Suriname.
Rutherford expressed optimism that the overseas participation would enhance the competition and provide local cycling fans with an opportunity to witness international talent in action.
The Trifecta series begins on Saturday, October 24, at the Vlissengen Road circuit before moving to Mahaicony on October 31. The programme concludes in Linden on November 1.
Meanwhile, Kaieteur Attack Cycling Club representative Quincy Ridley highlighted the club’s contribution to the cycling calendar, including its October 25 fireworks criterium at the Seawall Bandstand.
Ridley said the event would combine competitive racing with cancer-awareness promotion, using the sport to support an important social cause.
With a mixture of local and international competitors expected across the programme, the fifth edition of the Trifecta Memorial Series is set to celebrate the legacy of Singh while providing cyclists with another platform to showcase their abilities.
