Dead: Joshua Butts

Based on reports received, at about 03:30h on Monday, Butts was driving motor car bearing registration number PTT 7891 along the public road when he reportedly lost control and ended up in a nearby trench.
He was pulled from the wreckage by public-spirited citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted but later succumbed to his injuries.

The car that Butts was driving at the time of the accident

Guyana Times understands that Butts and others had attended an Emancipation Day function on the Corentyne and were heading back home when the accident occurred. It is unclear if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Back in 2013, Butts was selected to be a part of the National Under-16 Football squad.
Three years later, the former Tutorial Academy Secondary School student was kicked off the team shortly before departure for an overseas engagement after a teammate’s phone went missing. The phone was subsequently found in his possession.
