The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) has shortlisted a team of seven athletes to represent Guyana at the Central America and Caribbean Championships (CAC) 2021 to be hosted in San Salvador, El Salvador, August 11-16, 2021.

Rosanna Fung

The athletes making up the said team are Kerwin Clarke, Rosanna Fung, Yanick Grimes, Emmerson Campbell, Roger Callendar, Darius Ramsammy and Nicholas Albert. The GBBFF is looking forward to having its President, Keavon Bess, lead its delegation along with at least one coach to ensure that the athletes are taken care of.

Darius Ramsammy

Speaking on behalf of the GBBFF was President Bess who said, “The GBBFF firmly believes that this team of seven athletes represent the elite stock of athletes that we have in Guyana. We are confident that this team will be able to medal at CAC in El Salvador. Rosanna Fung is one of the best female bodybuilding athletes in Guyana; Kerwin Clarke is the reigning and defending gold medalist at CAC 2019; Emmerson Campbell has done well at the regional and international competitions; Yanick Grimes copped a bronze at CAC in 2019 after coming out of a wide pool of athletes; Darius Ramsammy did well in his first competition and from then to now, has improved his physique tremendously; Nicholas Albert; who was the Novice Champion for 2020; has a nice and trimmed physique and we think he will do well in the bantamweight

Roger Callendar

category; and Roger Callendar has transformed his body and we believe he can fit into the under 143lbs category, he is a beast and we know he can do well.

Nicholas Albert

All in all, we believe the entire team can go and do well and make Guyana proud. We look forward to sponsorship and ensuring this team gets to El Salvador. We are certain that each athlete will be returning to the shores of Guyana with a medal, so we ask corporate Guyana and the entire fraternity of body building and fitness in Guyana for their support.”

Kerwin Clarke

The GBBFF has reached out to several corporate entities in Guyana for sponsorship and has also submitted a formal request to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for their support in ensuring team Guyana gets to El Salvador and represent the Golden Arrowhead.
