The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Federation (GABA) is set to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Cara Lodge Hotel in Quamina Street, Georgetown from 13:00h on Sunday, and high on the agenda will be the election of executives.
As is customary, the event will commence with the opening remarks from President of the GABA, Junior Hercules, followed by the Report from the Secretary/Treasurer, after which the President will give his report. At conclusion of the President’s Report, the returning officer will give instructions on the elections before the election of new office bearers is held. Then there will be the welcoming of the new GABA executives.
Hercules assumed office in 2015, succeeding Michael Singh. Adrian Hooper was appointed Vice-President after defeating Ewart Williams with six votes to three, while Cheryl Thomas was elected Secretary of the Association after defeating Nadine Luthers-Williams. Joyce Sullivan was elected unopposed as Treasurer, while Luthers-Williams was unchallenged as the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
The clubs that voted were the Colts, Republic Bank Nets, Eagles, UG Trojans, Plaisance Guardians, Knights and Melanie Patriots; while the Dynas Ravens, TGH Pacesetters and Pepsi Sonics were not represented at the proceedings.
