Gangster Domino lift inaugural Mackeson crown

One of the largest dominoes competition to have ever been played in Guyana, the Mackeson “King of the Domino” which was won by Gangster Domino team was deemed a resounding success by organizers and sponsors.

The intense action which was spread across the three counties (Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice) including areas such as Linden and Bartica, was very pleasing to the Guyana National Dominoes Federation (GNDF) and Ansa McAl.
Inaugural champions of the nationwide competition, “Gangster” domino team, are now $1million richer after receiving their grand cash prize at the Ansa Mcal’s head office at Beterverwagting during a simple presentation on Tuesday. Gavin Towler of the championship winning team, Gangster, was deemed the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament and was also handsomely rewarded.

Although the tournament was a countrywide affair, Georgetown teams finished in the top three spots. Spartans, that finished with 75 wins, eight less than the champions, settled for the second place trophy and $250,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, third place finishers TNT, pocketed $100,000 and the corresponding accolade.
