Ranks on the morning of Friday last unearthed several bags of cannabis in an empty lot, at Spliff Street Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police stated that the discovery was made during a cordon and search exercise between 04:00h and 10:00h by ranks of Regional Division 4 C.
The suspected cannabis, when weighed, amounted to 160 grams.
Meanwhile, further searches in villages along the East Coast led to the arrest of a 32-year-old male of Enterprise Gardens, ECD, and a 47-year-old male of Annandale, ECD, in relation to break and enter and larceny.
In addition, searches were also conducted on 3 homes at Enmore, along with one house in Foulis and another in Enterprise. No arrests were made as no illegal items were unearthed.
Earlier in the month, a barber was busted with a quantity of cannabis during a Police operation at Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
According to reports, a mobile Police patrol was in the area when ranks observed the man standing in the vicinity of the car park acting in a suspicious manner.
He was approached and a request was made for him to be searched during which five transparent ziplock plastic bags – each containing a quantity of ganja – were discovered.
He was arrested and taken to the Leonora Police Station, where the suspected cannabis sativa was weighed in his presence and amounted to 11 grams.
