Three Puran Brothers workers were attacked and robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday while they were collecting garbage at Warlock, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Reports are about 05:00h, the trio were in East Ruimveldt collecting garbage when they were pounced upon by gunmen. The workers were badly beaten and their phones, cash, and lunch bags were taken away. The truck driver’s wedding ring was also snatched by the bandits. After the incident, the men were taken to a city hospital for medical attention.
Solid Waste Director Walter Narine, in a social media post, stated that as a result of the incident, garbage collection for the community has been postponed until today.
The Police have since requested that persons from the community who have information report to the nearest station.
Up to press time, no one has been arrested for the crime.
