GBBFF Seniors Bodybuilding Championships: Permission granted for in-house audience of 200 fully vaccinated persons

The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) are all set to host their first Seniors Bodybuilding Championships for 2021 on December 19, and have been granted permission from the COVID-19 Task Force to accommodate 200 fully vaccinated individuals to witness the event in person.

Julio Sinclair was the winner in the Over-165lb category

The GBBFF have said in a statement, “On Thursday night, the 9th day of December, 2021, the GBBFF was officially informed, via email, that permission was granted by the Minister of Health for a live audience to attend the National Seniors Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition on the 19th day of December, 2021. This permission was granted on the condition that the GBBFF must follow all the guidelines as set out in the Gazetted Order on COVID-19. Further, the GBBFF can only accommodate 200 fully vaccinated persons in the audience. Tickets will soon go on sale.”

Ronaldo Caldeira is the Men’s Physique winner

President of the GBBFF, Keavon Bess, was also quoted as saying, “The GBBFF is happy that, after 2 years, we can finally have our days back in the arena, cheering on the favourite athletes and motivating them to give of their best. Further, the GBBFF will have the opportunity to earn some much-needed income from the entrance fee that patrons will pay to see live bodybuilding after 2 years.”

Rosanna Fung won the Miss Bikini category at the last championships

Bess relayed that the pressure is on a lot of the top athletes to prove their mettle against the up-and-coming new ‘bloods’ that are nipping at their heels. Hence it is anticipated that the fans would witness a very competitive championship and spectacular physiques on stage.
Approximately 30 athletes would be competing in the different segments of the championships – Bodybuilding, Bikini, and Men’s Physique.
Some of the athletes set to perform are Darious Ramsammy, Christina Ramsammy, Rosanna Fung, Nicolas Albert, Emmerson Campbell, Yannick Grimes, Colin Chesney, Marlon Bennet, Lyndon Kennedy, Brian Singh, Odel Crum-Ewing, Ashanti Conway, Gale Karim, Jonathan Jeffery, Julio Sinclair, Ronaldo Caldera and Joel Caldera.

Darious Ramsammy was adjudged overall winner
