The Guyana Beach Football Association (GBFA) in collaboration with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has released the names of players selected to participate in two trial beach soccer matches on Sunday September 11 in Linden.
The matches are intended for the selection of players to form part of a national Beach Soccer team to participate in the upcoming CONCACAF Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier from January 29 to February 5 2017 in Miami, Florida. The trial matches will take place at the local beach soccer facility at the Bayroc ground at Wismar, Linden.
President of the GBFA, Rollin Tappin said 25 of the best talents have been selected from across the country for participation in the trial matches after which the list will be further trimmed to 20 players.
“What we did was we selected the best talents from the league that we had, which was played between January and April of this year and we selected the best 25 talents and they will play two trial games… After the two trial games, the squad will be reduced to 20 and they would go into training… as we intensify towards January of 2017 where the World Cup will take place in Miami, Florida. We’re working in conjunction with the Guyana Football Federation to ensure that we pull out all the stops for this upcoming event,” Tappin said.
Players for the trial matches are drawn mainly from Linden, East Coast of Demerara (ECD) and Georgetown.
