GBV awareness sessions held at Karasabai, Anni in response to abuse cases

ChildLinK Inc on Saturday hosted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness Session for ranks at the Karasabai Police Station in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo). During the session, discussions focused on child abuse, teenage pregnancy, protecting the child and mother and identifying persons who may be vulnerable to sexual abuse. The Guyana Police Force (GPF) stated that the session was highly interactive, with facilitators engaging the ranks through questions and open discussions. The ranks also raised questions and sought clarification on various matters, which were addressed by the facilitators.

At the conclusion of the session, the Child Link Inc representatives handed over awareness posters that will be used to continue the sensitisation and awareness forum on gender-based violence, child abuse, sexual abuse and child protection.
A similar forum was held on Friday at the Annai Police Station aimed at strengthening their knowledge and capacity to effectively respond to GBV-related incidents. In that session, discussions focused on key areas of GBV, including sexual violence, child protection and the appropriate management and response to GBV-related incidents. The highly interactive session saw personnel actively engaging with the facilitators through questions, discussions, and practical contributions. Ranks also shared their knowledge and experiences while gaining valuable insights into appropriate procedures for managing GBV cases.
