Three Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ranks were on Monday found guilty by Magistrate Leron Daly of stealing milk and margarine from Camp Ayanganna.
Richard Charles, 26; Kevin Phipps, 26, of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and Linton Logan, 27, of Hadfield Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, all pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them.
Following the trial, Magistrate Daly found the men guilty of committing the act between February 13 and 14, 2018 at Camp Ayanganna, Georgetown. The trio stole 11 25-kilogram bags of powdered milk worth $153,890 and seven cases of Golden Cream margarine, property of the GDF.
The ranks were fined $100,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in them serving one year in prison.
