The spanking new GENEQUIP dealership facility at Houston that caters for modern innovations
General Equipment Guyana Limited (GENEQUIP) on Thursday commissioned a new dealership facility at Houston Industrial Site, as part of its commitment to expand the services to all Guyanese.
The new state-of-the-art facility is constructed on a two-acre plot of land, with a building covering 36,000 square feet, comprising of a showroom, parts warehouse, workshop and training facility to conduct technical and operator training.
The facility is fully compliant with international standards and is equipped with waste separating bins to promote the separation of waste and promote recycling practices. Additionally, it creates job opportunities for persons in the fields of sales, projects, service and security.
Managing Director of GENEQUIP, Renger Van Dijk stated during the commissioning ceremony, “Our strength has always been our aftermarket services because our company is run by engineers. We have to make the customer happy. Fairness and honesty towards our customers is important for us”.
He added, “GENEQUIP was established and not long after we became a John Deere distributor. It was not that easy because of several candidates but experience and a realistic approach worked in our favour”.
The company has provided a number of reputable brands such as John Deere, Komatsu, Baldan, Lucas Mill, Menegotti and Masalta. It also recently become the authorised distributor for Yanmar, Maximal, Suzuki Marine, Genmac, Stamford-AvK and Gorman Rupp.
Generally, the equipment covers sectors ranging from agriculture, construction, mining, power generation, material handling, oil and marine applications. With the move to this new facility, it further improves the ability to better serve its customers and also better accommodate its staff.
However, Director of Sales, Shahdra Shoo announced plans to partner with farmers to optimise their yield using technological support from test farms.
“We have started with 150 hectares of test farm where we are testing simple technologies for sugar cultivation and harvesting…The data collected from our test farm will be shared with other farmers to aid in their farm operations and soon we will be starting another test farm for rice cultivation,” he stated.
GENEQUIP commenced operations in Guyana back 1992, with a line of heavy equipment at the Water Street branch. With increased demands, it moved to Houston and McDoom on the East Bank of Demerara. This new branch is accessible through South Ruimveldt.
