Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Fruta Conquerors were among the winning teams on Saturday at the Tucville ground as the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) NAMILOC Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 League continued as part of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) leg of matches.
Playing in the first game of the day the home side easily defeated Alpha United 4-0 due on the back of braces by Rushan Ritch, Nicholas McArthur, Jermaine Garrett and Roy Gill.
Gill was the first to open the scoring when he netted in the 27th minute but Alpha attempted to equalize but to no avail the precious goal never came.
The goals certainly came but it came off the feet of the Conquerors players as they netted three goals in the space of seven minutes.
McArthur was next to convert in the 62nd minute after which Ritch netted in the 67th followed by Garrett, who headed the final nail in the coffin in the 69th minute.
In the other match, Jermaine Padmore’s goal proved to be the difference between Santos FC, as the mid-fielder collected the ball while in a dashing run at the defence to neatly convert in the 29th minute.
Both teams went in search of scoring a goal afterwards but neither was able to convert.
Matches are expected to continue next Saturday at the same venue from 09:30h.
